Reverse Engineering

Reverse engineering is the process of analyzing or collecting dimensional data to reproduce the item exactly or revising the item to improve its function or to conduct a FEA analysis. Using this method of extracting data we can convert this information into the digital 3D world for new development or duplication.

 
Sometimes it is necessary to disassemble complex assemblies to collect information from each individual part or item. After each individual item is scanned or probed a CAD file is created from this data. Once all of the components are 3D modeled they are assembled to check for collision detection, tolerance, function and fitment.

 
We can reverse engineer part sizes in house ranging from 1" inch and up with weights up to 1 ton (2,000 lbs.). Larger objects can be reverse engineered on-site with a PCMM, software and support equipment. We have the resources and capacity to tackle any reverse engineering project.

 
We can provide reverse engineering of component converted to CAD data. File output can be of various formats. We also provide parametric modeling from reverse engineering data, if required. Several CAD formats are available for parametric files.

 
Reverse engineering also applies to collecting data from soft, deformable and complex shapes where it would be impossible for a stationary CMM to collect point data.

 
The seven-axis arm with scanner and probe allows us the portability that a standard CMM does not offer. This portability allows us to move the PCMM to any area required to capture data from any project.
